Working together makes us stronger...

St Mary's has a close relationship with our feeder pre-school which is next door to the school. We get to know many of our prospective pupils long before they are ready to start and have a comprehensive programme of transition in place leading up to their entry to the Foundation Stage.

We also enjoy strong links with the Church and Social club, working together on the Village Country Fayre every year which raises a lot of money for local good causes.

We encourage our pupils whatever age they may be to work and help each other. Many of the older pupils have leadership responsibiltites and support the younger children at lunchtimes and playtimes. We have student librarians, key stage leaders, house captains  and a SEAL team who act as mediators or mentors if concerns arise.

Our school council is made up of 6 house captains and 2 representatives from each class. The school council meets regularly to lead and drive school improvement. Amongst other things, last year they helped produce and write an anti-bullying policy and presented it to the rest of the school. A splinter group of the school council led the work on Rights Respecting Schools.
